Quentin's class put on a holiday show yesterday. This is his first year of school and this is a new preschool for us so we didn't know what to expect. He had come home a couple weeks ago saying that he was going to be Santa but that he got nervous and said no after he had said yes and that now a little girl was going to be Santa and now he had changed his mind and he really did want to be Santa because being Santa is the important part (insert tears and crying). The next day at school I guess the little girl decided she couldn't be Santa either because...well, Santa is a boy. So, Q was back in his role as Santa (insert huge smile). He had a line and a special part and he was committed to it. When I wanted him to dress up nicely for the show he told me he didn't need to wear nice clothes because he had a Santa suit to wear. I giggled. This is really going to be cute!
The show was adorable. It's very difficult to get 24 kids that are 3 years old to do three things: sing, smile and not fall off the stage. We had a few kids who got nervous when they saw the crowd, a few who didn't want to sing and a few who did try to escape the stage. The teachers did a wonderful job keeping everyone straight. The kids did a great job preforming. Santa of course was a cutie pie. Many times I go to school and people ask me if Quentin is my son. They rave about how cute he is and how sweet he is and they often relate wonderful stories of compassion that he displayed toward their child. I'm happy to have such a great young man to raise.
Quentin had one solo part where he popped out of a chimney and said "here I am" when the kids sang "where is Santa", then he also said Ho, Ho HO! He was not a big fan of his beard but he did a great job.
After the show the kids got to visit with the real Santa and Quentin changed what he had been asking for all month. I wa slaughing. This is the fourth time he's changed his mind and this time he asked for a scooter...he already has 2 scooters.
