Studio 31 held their annual dance recital yesterday. The show is preformed at the Escondido Center for the Arts. It's a gorgeous production split into 2 casts and is approximately 3 hours long. Ava dance for 3 minutes. Her Combo 1 (ballet, tap and jazz) class preformed a tap routine to the song "Going to the Chapel". They were adorable and elicited many "oh's and ah's" from the crowd.
There is no video taping or photography allowed during the show itself. I did manage to get some video during the dress rehearsal Friday night. You can see Ava's absolute frustration with her fellow dancers during the formation of the aisle towards the end. She did very well the day of the show not being frustrated and just doing her best that she could do. Of course, the audience thinks it's cute when kids forget their parts but Ava was pretty upset that the dance wasn't right because some kids didn't always come to class.
Their will be professional portraits taken next week in studio. It's always hard to see your 5 year old in make up, but it's required for stage lighting. It made mom and dad flash forward 20 years seeing her dressed as a bride and wearing make up...yikes!
Ava plans on wearing her recital costume this Halloween...as a zombie bride. LOL! Last year she was a pretty vampire and this year she's going to be a zombie bride. She apparently appreciates irony at 5 years old.
