The Science Experiment Analysis

Well, it's been a little over 2 weeks since we started our kitchen experiments.

We started with 10 caterpillars, a test tube of harvester ants, a test tube of ladybug larvae and 4 packets of seeds.

5 caterpillars worked their way to Cocoons, 4 survived and attached themselves to complete their crystalis stage. 4 painted lady butterflies emerged from their cocoons this morning. yes, butterflies are a bloody mess when they emerge from their cocoons.

The ladybugs all thrived and went through their metamorphosis's.

The harvester ants were SCARY! We will not do those again. They were more interested in building a hill than building tunnels and they didn't like the food we gave them and they bury their dead. i swear they were trying to just build up to get out of the hole in the top of the farm. They also would try to grab and hang on to the eye dropper every time I gave them water.

The plants all did well. Veggie seeds grew faster and better than flower seeds. All the kids practiced singing to their plants because we learned that they thrive with vibration. Sophia's flowers were the last to sprout and I am wondering if it's because she planted so much extra stuff in the pot (daisy's she picked from the garden, 2 pinwheels she made).
