Yes, we had an earthquake this morning. It was 11:41am and I was sitting at my computer checking emails. Isabella was at soccer Camp at the park down the street. Sophia, Ava and Quentin were watching TV. We had just gotten home from the gym.
I heard the noise and the house started to shake. Every time we have an earthquake here I wonder to myself for the first few seconds....is it garbage day? Is that the garbage truck? After a few seconds you come to realize that it is actually an earthquake. Usually they are over pretty fast. I waited a few seconds and it was getting stronger and not actually stopping.
My computer monitor was creaking and all the sudden I realized that the walls were actually rolling and swaying. at this point I hopped up, hurdled the gate in the hallway and grabbed Quentin and the girls...we stood in the closest archway (between the kitchen and the family room). The kids asked me 'what is this"? I said it was an earthquake and it would be over soon.
While I was standing there I was thinking about Isabella and how if stuff started to collapse and fall how would I get to her.
It stopped.
We waited a few more seconds and then we went to pick Isabella up (it was time anyhow). Int he car on the way there Rami called me (I violated the hands free law and answered it). Rami said it was crazy in Orange County and cars were actually shaking in the parking lot of the facility he was at.
Sophia started to worry. She asked me if this was the end of the world and if we were going to die. how do you answer that question? I told her no, it was just an earthquake. That actually we have then alot of the time and she's just never felt one like that before.
The earthquake was centered in chino hills (45 miles to our north west). We're fine. Just a little "shook up". Jennifer was in a building in downtown LA (closer to the epicenter) on the 13th floor. She said they were swaying alot up there. she's doing well too.
