I spent 4 days in a condo on the beach in Tybee Island Georgia. Just off Savannah, this area was very historical and fun.
11 women who are also moms. 33 kids between us. Not a kid in sight. Lots of laughter, a few tears and 4 days of bliss.
Arrival: a walk on the beach, food cooked on the grill and drinks until 2am.
Day 1: I went for a great run on the beach after I woke up. Breakfast was delish..especially since I didn't have to cook it ;), we headed out to Savannah in the rain for some historical cultuure. A failure of a trolly tour, which we tried to make the best of. Dinner at Uncle Bubba's (Paula deen's brother's seafood restaurant). More drinks at the condo and then a trek down tot he beach at 2am to "see" high tide. you can tell most are land lovers...it was so dark they couldn't see anything, but we tried.
Day 2: Sunny but cold. Mission...explore Tybee Island. start with the lighthouse. 178 steps up, 178 steps down. Then we split into groups. half stayed in historical mode and visited Fort Pulaski. Half went back to the beach house and laid on the beach in a variety of cropped pants and long sleeves. LOL We met for a late lunch, early dinner and visited Tybee Islands "main street". Heard about Atelita's Way playing a concert at a bar that night for free. Decided that some of us should go back for that. Ate pizza at 10pm and headed to bed at 2am (well...some of us anyway....)
Day 3: The final goodbyes. Pack up and leave by 10am. My flight wasn't until 6pm that night. So, a few of us stayed back in Savannah and explored a little more. Visited Paula Deen's, bought some souvenirs and then ate at Five Guys burgers (YUM-O). I sat in the Savannah airport for 5 hours and then boarded my flights home.
It's always hard to say good bye to friends you don't see very often.
