Yesterday was report card day here in the Ubaydi house. We are very happy parents. We dropped the hammer down on these kids after the first trimester and demanded better grades come home this trimester. And, by better we meant...more A's than B's and C's were unacceptable.
Well, they worked hard and they delivered!
Ava is making continued improvements and really LOVES reading now. Her math facts are good but subtraction seems to confuse her, but mainly because she's seeing patterns in math (a good thing) but she tries to apply those patterns to other problems where they don't work out for her. She'll get it soon enough.
Sophia continues to amaze us. She's managed to score 4 "advanced" grades. The coveted 5 in the school system report card that grades in numbers 1-4. They've always told us never to expect 5's because those are rare and the average student will get 3-4 which is A-B equivalent. Well...Sophia is rare I guess. Smarty McSmarty Pants got herself 4 of the Super A's. And, those Super A's are well rounded. Math, Reading, etc.
Isabella continues to grow in leaps and bounds. The first trimester of the year is never her favorite. The girl has got to test every boundary and limit given to her by her teacher. Last trimester she barely missed Silver Honor Roll because she just didn't feel like working on a project and got herself an F. This semester...she really worked at her potential and she made Silver Honor Roll. In order to earn silver you must have more A's than B's. The only thing better than Silver is Gold and Gold is straight A's, nothing less. There are approximately 500 fourth grade students at Antelope Hills and about 45-50 made Silver honor roll. This is a big accomplishment and we're proud. Isabella tells me that I told her she could change her whole room decor if she made honor roll. I recall that i said, 2 out of 3 trimesters...we shall see. She's been sketching out room designs since last year. Looks like I might be painting and decorating this summer.
