Pretend City Field Trip

Sophia's Girl Scout troop headed to Orange County for a field trip. Pretend City is a children's museum where they engage kids in interactive learning and fun. The city has miniature areas where the kids are in charge. They manage the grocery store, cafe, post office, fire station, farm, art studio, wharf, police station and construction zone. They preform tasks and earn money and spend the money in whatever way they like.

For example, our group caught fish in the wharf. They wrapped their fish in paper and took it to either the cafe or the market to sell there. At the cafe we had a waitress, a cook and some customers. At the market we had shoppers and workers. On the farm we harvested our fruits and veggies and then took those items to the market to sell. The woman there paid $20 per basket for the fresh produce and even gave an extra $5 if the girls went back and replanted for the farmer ;-). The girls loved the farm. They harvested, sold and replanted at least 4 times each. Some of the girls did it 6-7 times. They loved earning money and being paid. In the end they all donated their money and that was hard for some of them to do.

What a great time with Sophia and her troop.
