Today Ava was home sick from school. While we were running errands we had the following conversation:
Ava: How do know a baby is a boy or a girl when they are born.
Me: (trying to take the easy way out) The doctor tells you
Ava: hmmmmm
Me: (sensing that she's not satisfied with that answer) Well, there's one difference between boys and girls and you can see that difference when a baby is born. Do you know what that is?
Ava: OOOOOOOhh! Their hair...girls have long hair.
Me: Well, not exactly.
Ava: That's right! Babies don't have hair when they are born. Hmmmmm...what is it?
Me: *sigh* Well, boys have a different kind of pee pee. Remember when Quentin was born? The doctors can see that when a baby is born and that's how they tell you.
Ava: Oh yeah...giggles.
Me: *ugh, more sighing*
Ava: I really want to be a doctor when I grow up.
