My last Daisy

Last night I bridged my last Daisy Girl Scout of the family. Ava has completed the 2 year Daisy program and is now a Brownie Girl Scout.

I had an amazing group of 8 Daisies that completed this journey as they took their first steps at becoming Girl Scouts. I was the leader of these girls through this adventure. Together with their sister Brownie and sister Juniors we learned and grew and had many adventures and lots of laughs.

Rylee, Carmella, Grace, McKala, Brooke, Chloe, Ava and Naomi are always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. They listen to the task at hand and diligently work together towards the common goals. They worked hard selling cookies and Fall products. They listened attentively to speakers who came to teach us about powerful women. They learned about foreign countries and found out what Girl Scouting is like around the world. They helped collect canned foods and toys and toiletries for those in our community who are in more need than themselves. They designed clothing and quilts. They learned about animals and agriculture and recycling. They supported the fellow troop mates in selfless acts of kindness. They marched in a Veteran's Day parade to show our gratitude to the men and women who proudly serve our country.

These girls are our future and I am so proud of the work they've done and the work they will continue to do in their lives.

An excerpt from a poem by Ruth Stevenson:

BRIDGING POEM

From Daisy Girl Scouts dressed in blue

when everything is fresh and new

we learn our Promise and our Law

and we grow strong as we grow tall.

As Brownie Girl Scouts eager to learn

We try new things and Try-its earn

We make the world a better place

with a big Brownie smile on our face

In to Juniors we venture on

exploring our backyard and beyond

In a circle of friendship,

hand in hand

helping people all that we can
