Ava auditioned for a part in a small local production of Alice in Wonderland. She loves being on stage so much that she thought she'd also enjoy a little bit of acting too. She auditioned last week. Which was a wonderful experience by itself. She had to go in with a group of 4 (ages 6-18) and stand on stage alone and sing something A cappella. She decided to sing "Hippopotamus" that she had taught herself this Christmas. Then she was given a part to read and told to go in the hallway and practice. 45 minutes later she was called back in to read her part with her partner. She was very serious and studied hard and she was proud of herself (and really, that's all this is about right?!).
We got the email this week that she did indeed get a part in the show. A small part of course, because she is 7 and it is her first time. But, she's so happy to be trying something new. She will be playing 3 parts in the show on June 3-4th. Baby Bird, background voices and a part of the jury.
Now, my Thursday nights are no longer "free".
