8th Birthday Fun

Today we celebrated Sophia's 8th birthday. She had a lot of fun. We laid around in pajamas (well, Quentin, Sophia and me anyway...Isabella, Ava and Rami were at a soccer tournament bright and early) until 11am. Sophia opened her presents and then we had a quiet lunch at home. The girls and I made a trip to the mall for some girl time. Then we picked up the boys and headed down to Escondido (Mira Mesa) and ate dinner at Buca Di Beppo. We have eaten there a couple times and the kids always enjoy the kitchen tour that Buca gives. However, this time we decided that since Sophia is a "chef" that we'd eat at the special table. Buca has a table called "the kitchen table" where guests are invited to sit IN the kitchen and watch the action going on. Periodically, the servers will walk by with someones food and show you what it is and explain the dish to you before walking it out and presenting it to the diner.

It smells so good sitting mere feet from that deliciousness. Sophia introduced herself to chef Antonio as soon as we sat down and he must have liked her because he brought some special goodies to out table. Sophia got a free appetizer to share with her family, she enjoyed a delicious dinner (we all did) and then she got an extra special dessert that Chef has never given anyone as long as our server could remember...Sophia was in HEAVEN!

We were so stuffed when we left there and we left with a giant bag of leftovers that will feed us for the next day for sure.

We came home and watched some videos of Sophia's birth. We do that every year and every year it dawns upon me just how very lucky we are to have Sophia in our lives today. She was a very blue baby and I'm thankful everytime I watch that video that she was smart enough to know that even though the doctors wanted her to stay in the womb, that she needed to get out of there fast. Thank God for another wonderful year spent with Sophia Johanna.
