Our first tournament win! Isabella's club soccer team played the Elite Cup Soccer Tournament this weekend.
The first game of the day on Saturday was an automatic win because the other team withdrew at the last minute. That was a bummer because we were eager to play a game. The second scheduled game was a blow out. 9-1, not even a challenging game. The girl were happy to win though. Isabella was nervous when she went in for the first time. Coach Heidi gave her an opportunity to play her favorite position and she wanted to do her best. She really loves paying forward and really really wanted to score a goal. She didn't score any goals but she did do a fabulous job with ball control, ball handling and passing to people who did make goals.
On Sunday, we played the final team in the morning. It was a battle for the ball and the other team won narrowly 2-1. We knew we'd end up playing them again for the championship game later that afternoon. 2 hours later we played them again and we won 3-0. What a fantastic game the girls played. It was exciting to the very end. Again it was a battle for the ball and our girls really showed off some great skills and had terrific ball handling. Isabella was mostly back in defense for these games and again she was able to put the stops on the ball.
Once again I am so impressed that our girls are not afraid to put their bodies in front of the other team and stick their foot in there and dig that ball out and run with it.
