The OC Kickoff was Isabella's soccer team's last pre-season tournament. The largest U9 tourney we've had yet. 8 teams, broken down into 2 pools. The winner of each bracket goes to the Championship game.
Game one: We showed off some sweet skillz and an organized backfield but didn't score any goals. Both teams are awarded shut out points for a 0-0 tie. The girls were definitely tired (having gotten up at 6:15am for team pictures and then driving to Orange County).
Game two: Our girls always do better after their lunchtime fuel. They played an awesome game and dominated our half of the field. I'm not sure the other team even got the ball down anywhere near our goal. Game out of that game feeling good with a 5-0 win.
Woke up in the morning on Sunday realizing we were tied for 1st place. The team we had played in the morning was also on fire in the afternoon and they ended up getting the same number of points. We knew we had to play hard and dominate the field this morning.
The first game when we arrived was the other team tied for 1st. They crushed their competition 8-0. The mood turned bad.
If a tie was going to come down to goal differential then we HAD to not only shut out the team we were playing but we also had to score 9 goals.
Game 3: Although we tried to organize and our girls played tough the other team managed to score 2 goals and even though we attempted several goals we couldn't quite find the net. Final score was our loss at 2-0.
We ended the tournament 3rd place in the bracket.
We've gained some good momentum as a team going forward into the official Fall season in a few weeks. Can't wait!
