After 2 weeks of intense negotiations we have settled with the sellers for this home. We're happy to have things settled and looking forward to the future here.
It's about 3 miles from our current rental. It's no more than a 1/2 mile from the house my dad lived in when I moved to Michigan for college. It was built in 2001 and has 5 bedrooms (4 very large bedrooms upstairs), a finished, walkout basement and is in a quiet, lovely cul-de-sac filled with families. We managed to accomplish the task of keeping the kids in all the exact schools so that they would not have to transfer and make new friends again.
We don't close on the house until June 1st. It seems so far away but really it's only 80 days away. June will be busy with the end of school and a move, but it'll be great to be settled for the summer and get ready for the next 12 years in Michigan. I say 12 years because although we like this house we know that Michigan is far too cold and snowy for us and as soon as Quentin graduates highschool (can you believe he's starting Kindergarten this Fall) we have told the kids they better go to college and be on their way because we're headed to our retirement home in Florida.
We took the kids to see the house last night for the first time. They are excited about the amount of space they will have and excited by the potential for growth as they move through their school years. Isabella already has visions of walking down the front, formal staircase in her pink, sparkly prom dress and being greeted by her date at the front door (ack! only 5 years away).
Welcome Home.
