A Nail Biting End

Isabella was in her last tournament with her soccer team this past weekend. The Tournament of Champions in San Diego.

The girls had great games on Saturday and won in 2-0 shut outs that secured their spots for Sunday's championship game. All they had to do was play one more regulation game on Sunday afternoon. The thing is they didn't even have to win in order to go on and they knew it. The other team of course needed to win to have a chance of going on so they fought hard!

The 3rd game ended in a a 0-0 tie and we moved on. The 4th place team fought a huge battle against the 2nd place team and they ended up moving up to 2nd and playing us in the Finals.

Now, here was a team that was fighting and wanted it.
Our girls were hot, tired and egotistical from their shut out wins.

Tournament Championship time. At the half we were tied 1-1. At the end we were tied 1-1. We needed to get one goal in overtime or it was going to go to a shoot out. The 5 minute overtime quarter went fast! We had beat this team 2-0 the afternoon before and now we're going into a shootout for the championship?! There's no way we can let them win this.

What a lot of pressure on our goalie. The penalty kicks were nail biters. Each team gets 5 players. It came down to the last kicker on our side and we were still tied 2-2. And...we scored it! We won the game on the last of our 5 penalty kickers! WOW!

Isabella has never had a game come down to penalty kicks and what a memorable experience for this to be her last tournament with this team and to bring home the championship trophies.

Great job team!
