Isabella's club soccer team played their first tournament this weekend. Exciting because it was played on the sand at the beach in Oceanside. The girls had a lot of fun and played well and were excited to be together for 2 days of soccer fun. They say soccer in the sand is an ariel game. It's such a workout for these young soccer players to get their feet out of the sand and to kick the ball.
Isabella played nice defense in all the games, blocking when she needed to protect her goalie and clearing the ball out and up the field. She played forward in the 3rd game and scored a goal, which made her happy.
Game 1 vs Lakeside soccer club: 5-0
Game 2 vs Real California FC: A tough tough match where the ref wasn't calling penalties and the game looked more like a hockey match. Our girls were coming off the field with blood and bruises suffered from drive down tackles and sand being kicked in the face on purpose. We held off 10 goal attempts but the other team managed to score 5-0.
Game 3 vs Boomdynomite soccer club: 6-0
Game 4 Championship against the hockey team from the day before. This time the ref was calling the penalties and with the game being called right things were on target and we held our own and got tough. It was down to the wire and ended with Real California winning the championship 2-1.

**After the game was over the ref said he'd rather ref a game of U19 boys than U8 girls...the girls are more ferocious.***
Our girls were pleased with being 2/1 going into the championship and being finalists with 20 points.
This tournament was their kick off to once a month tournaments for the next 5 months.
