Basketball Season Started

Yesterday was the start of Winter Basketball.

This is Sophia's 4th year playing 2nd grade level and her first year actually being in 2nd grade. She is doing fantastic and she really enjoys herself. We struggled last year with her coach, but this year her coaches are fantastic and I really think she's learning a lot of skills and she's playing some smart basketball. She scored 3 baskets in yesterday's game and promptly told us that we owed her $6.00 (apparently dad agreed to paying $2 per basket). She really had fun and was super excited after the game. The Orange Crush is going to be a great team this year.

Isabella is playing all girls grades 3-5 basketball. For some reason she gets way more aggressive on the basketball court than she does on the soccer field. She scored 2 baskets but somehow managed to foul herself out of the game in the 3rd qtr. She was really fighting for the ball and her team ended up losing 49-18. They needed her to be on the court and not fouled out. Hopefully, she starts playing smarter ball and settles down soon. At this level of play there will be a championship game at the end of the season and last year her team won the championships. We'd love to see the Lady Lakers go all the way this year too.
