Snow what?

Snow always happens when there's nobody around to shovel it. Rami flies out, the snow flies in. Rami returns, the snow is cleaned up.

I hired a snow plow driver back in October. He's scheduled to come plow the driveway by 8am any time we get snow over 4 inches. It has happened twice in the last month...he had forgotten me both times. Both times Rami was gone and I was out in the driveway with the shovel at 8am. My sleep was interrupted all night long by the sounds of the whole neighborhood using their personal snow throwers or having their service come plow their driveways. UGH!

Luckily, yesterday's snow was lighter and not coated with ice or on top of ice. There was no snow day off school and I was able to shovel 2 lanes of the driveway in 70 minutes. I estimate I burned an additional 300 calories even before I got my van out of the driveway to head to the gym. Which did make my 3 mile run and ab workout a little more treacherous (considering I was already tired). But, by 10:30am I had already burned about 1000 calories.

I did look a little like Nanook of the North out there. Bundled up in 4 layers and full ski attire...when i glanced across the street and saw that the neighbor across the street (who is older and smaller than me) was only wearing a jacket and gloves. No hat, no boots, no ski pants....in my defense she was also only cleaning up the residual 1-2 inches that fell after her husband had gone out and used the snow thrower. I on the other hand was digging out 5 inches of powder.

Did I mention I'm going to have to ask for a pay raise? I'm considering a revision of my resume....

Seriously, before 10am yesterday I had preformed many jobs that are above my pay grade.

financial manager
caterer
meal planner
teacher
referee
counselor
chef
waitress
maid
maintenance worker
activities director
personal trainer
nurse
warden

After a tiring morning (which cracks me up to say because if you ask my kids I don't do anything but go to the gym and sit on the computer all day) the girls came home from school at 3:20pm and didn't even walk in the door. They wanted the 4 sleds they got for Christmas inflated so they could take advantage of that awesome half pike in the backyard. Of course that meant that the neighborhood annoying boy came over as well. I only managed to get one sled blown up and I handed them 2 trash can lids and told them to work it out. :D They did. They had a blast for about an hour while I reshoveled the driveway.
