In December of 1992 Rami took me on our first official date. We went to the Nutcracker Ballet at the Fox Theater in Detroit. I had never been to a ballet performance before and it was very special. I have collected Nutcrackers ever since.
This year we decided the girls were old enough to attend the ballet and see for themselves what the show was all about.
We have been reading the story of the Nutcracker for a couple weeks trying to prepare them for the story behind the ballet. We got dressed up today and went to the local community theater for the performance. The girls were enthralled during the whole show. I believe Isabella even cried during some parts she was so moved. At intermission we saw some of the dancers and took pictures with them. After each group shot Ava (our prima ballerina) pushed her sisters aside and said she wanted a shot alone with the ballerinas she idolizes. The girls were giddy when the show was over. They danced their way out of the theater with pirouettes and first position waddles. We had a great time and the girls behaved like ladies...we were so proud.
